New Jersey has often been touted as the butthole of the east coast, but in recent years it's gained a massive resurgence due mainly to the MTV reality show Jersey Shore, which highlighted several early twenties youths from the garden state whose national pastime consists of pumping iron, doing laundry and getting tanned. And lots of sex, tons of sex. Now this version of Jersey follows a mother and daughter who own a beauty salon (the Gatsby) and their illogical team of hairstylists and nail professionals. Why is it that i cannot look away, it's like watching someone feed applesauce to a beached whale with a huge spoon. Their was a specific style in the eighties as their was with the nineties, and now the style is every single generation's quirk stacked on top of each other. Over the top makeup, super tight, super skimpy, high-heeled, fake nailed, fake tanned, fake titties, fake personalities and fake boobs, oh wait i already mentioned that. In one episode sometimes lead make-up artist Olivia contemplates getting her boobs done because shes sick of stuffing chicken cutlets into her bra (Gorden Ramsey would shut her down in two seconds) and in some kind of divine intervention she breaks down, and falls back on the flimsy false truth of her stuffed basket, decides not to get the surgery. You know all these woman are naturally beautiful, they wouldn't have to do much at all to hi-lite their looks, but instead every woman on this show looks like a cross between C C Deville and any member of Faster Pussycat! Really they all look like drag queens and or eighties glam metal rejects. Then there's Tracey who you could re-do an outhouse with the amount of toxic chemicals that are present on her body. I give the show nine stars due to the head scratching effect of all these catty, superficial hags.

It seems that now a days, everyone can be on television. These people should not have their own television show. Its sad that this is what we call entertainment. I feel bad for the two young girls in this family. They are not being taught any values or self-respect. Its really sad that they have a sister who poses for Playboy after the sex tape incident. Whether they like it or not, the 3 older sisters are role models to these young girls. Why does the mother allow all these things to happen when there are children present? The father, it seems, tries to do the right thing, but nobody listens. These people are not celebrities. They are a family who should not have a television show.

so, i read everyone else's reviews. it seems that if you are a Buffy/Angel fan, then you will more than likely loathe this series. otherwise, there's a chance you will really dig it. that is, provided lots of sex, especially really creepy sex doesn't freak you out.

let's start with the credits. i haven't seen credits that i actually enjoyed watching since the end credits of se7en. yes, the credits are weird. and cool.
the acting, look, cast, and score are top notch. the first two episodes left me clearly conflicted. not to be confused with dear departed dexter (another killer series). i was drawn in, turned on. and for some reason really freaked out. all at the same time. excellent.
i just bought the first 3 books...and i'm nearly finished with the first. well done, creators of true blood! well done, chick that wrote the southern vampire series!

A fun, new Syfy show with potential

This show caught my eye when I saw the ad for it on Hulu. I don't have cable, so I'm not really familiar with a lot of the new shows, but after seeing this is based on the Colorado Kid story by Stephen King, and by being a fan of his work, I decided to check out the show.

I came into the show late; the first episode I saw was the third episode 'Consumed' but that was enough to get me interested. The show takes on some very interesting supernatural elements (with a lot of Stephen King references within them) and it makes for a very entertaining show.

The acting is great, the writing is fun and the two leads, Emily Rose (Audrey Parker) and Lucas Bryant (Nathan Wournos) have great chemistry, while Eric Balfour (Duke) always brings a fun element to the show. I've watched every episode from that first one and I've been hooked. A very enjoyable show with enough supernatural/suspense to keep the viewers intrigued while enjoying the Stephen King-ism and the always burning question "where do I belong?".

The 29-year-old singer – who is known for her sexy dance routines – finds her sets often don't go quite as planned due to her runny nose, leading to bubbles forming when she can't blow it.

She said: "My nose runs a lot and when I'm singing I can't blow it, so there have been occasions when I've ended up with a bubble coming out my nose."

Beyonce's nose is not the only problem on stage – the 'Girls (Who Run the World)' hitmaker confesses she needs to have wind machines blowing air around her constantly because she is a profuse sweater.

She added: "Everyone thinks I have fans because I'm being fashionable, but I work so hard on stage if I didn't have them I'd be dripping."

In addition to sweating and excess mucus, Beyonce – who is married to hip hop star Jay-Z - also finds she no longer likes her feet due to the stress she has put on them from dancing in heels.

Speaking on a TV show set to air on ITV in the UK in December, she said: "If I could change one part it would be my feet. After all the years dancing they're a little beat up. And I wear big earrings because I don't like my ears."

However, her foot problems did not stop Beyonce spending £9,000 when she took a trip to London's Oxford Street earlier this week.

A source who saw her shopping said: "It was like that shopping scene out of the film 'Pretty Woman'.

The 'Edge of Glory' hitmaker – who is estimated to be worth $112.8 million – explained being wealthy and gaining worldwide recognition was never something she aspired to, and she would be happy to give it all up.

Speaking in Sydney as part of her 'Monster's Ball' tour, she said: "Money and recognition were never a driving factor for me. I was driven by recognition by showbiz.

"What does come along with showbiz is recognition, but the money goes right back into the show. If I had to give it all away, every dollar that I've earned, I would."

However, the 25-year-old singer might not have so much cash to splash in the future, as she recently claimed her tour had "bankrupted" her.

She said: "I put everything in the show, and I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of the 'Monster Ball'. And it was funny because I didn't know!

"And I remember I called everybody and said, 'Why is everyone saying I have no money? This is ridiculous, I have five number one singles' - and they said, 'Well, you're $3 million in debt.' "

I saw The Good Neighbors in Toronto. I uttered Oh My God, and Eeewww several times, covered my eyes and laughed so hard my row of seats was shaking. It's totally unexpected. Sex, Violence, Comedy,Murder- all rolled into one. Don't take your mother or your kids, but round up all of your friends and make sure you see this. It is a pisser. I was ashamed of myself for laughing but I couldn't help it. Everyone will be talking about this movie. It is funny and shocking. The audience gave it a standing ovation. It will make you re-think socializing with your neighbors. Is one of them a killer? There is an awful lot of blood. And yet, I laughed. Is something wrong with me? If so, I wasn't the only one laughing.

Movie News:
Attack the Block, which has been riding a wave of buzz ever since its debut at the South by Southwest Film Festival earlier in the year, will be released in North American theaters on July 29. We reported back in April that Screen Gems acquired the distribution rights to Attack the Block.

Attack the Block will receive some stiff competition for box office dollars that weekend, with three wide releases and several other indie platform releases already slated. Cowboys & Aliens, Crazy Stupid Love, and The Smurfs will all receive a wide release on July 29. Limited releases include The Devil's Double, The Guard, Good Neighbours, and the documentary Life in a Day.

The July 29 weekend is now shaping one to be one of the most crowded weekends all summer (or all year) at the box office.

The good people at Epix are counting down to their debut of The Captains, a documentary about the different men and women who've sat in the center seat for the various incarnations of Star Trek. It is directed by the ur-Captain himself, William Shatner.

In addition to hosting special events (Comic-Con on the west coast, the freaking deck of the USS Intrepid in NYC!) Epix is asking fans to join The Long Khan. Yes, friends - you too can upload a video and join B-Shat in a wrath-fueled interplanetary yawp at Ricardo Montalban.

William Shatner seems to expand his resume about as many times as he narrowly escaped death on the original Star Trek tv series. TV guest star (Twilight Zone, Outer Limits), TV star (Star Trek, T.J. Hooker, Boston Legal, $#*! My Dad Says), movie star (Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II-VI, Star Trek: Generations, Miss Congeniality), as well as writer, director, producer, voice artist, talk show host, author. Now he has added “documentarian” to the list. The Captains is, as you might have guessed, a documentary about the captains of the Star Trek multiverse.

This documentary seems almost like a companion piece to The Biography Channel’s The Captains of the Final Frontier (2010). He must have been familiar with it, given that he has had two series on that channel (Aftermath with William Shatner, Shatner’s Raw Nerve). That documentary was about the Trek franchise and featured interviews with actors, writers, people involved in production, and Trek experts, but didn’t have any interviews with any of the actors who played the captains, other than Kate Mulgrew. It was really excellent and worth keeping an eye out for if you haven’t seen it.
