Reviews:
These women are INSANE,
Author: elixir01-1 from United States
I cannot understand this and I am a woman who just recently got married.
Why is there a percentage of women who think getting married is equivalent to being knighted by the Queen of England? Are these women serious? Wait, a more logical question would be: Are these MEN serious? How could anyone want to marry these selfish, rude, narcissistic women who just blow money around as if it grew on trees? They don't appreciate anything or anyone. I could never sit there and witness such horrible behavior. I'm amazed how many people on the show tolerated their attitudes. I would definitely not be one of them.

I love how all of these women explain in the beginning that they are "Queens" and/or "Princesses" and that the day they get married it has to be absolutely perfect. Why?!?!?! Because this will be recorded in history books?! Don't they know that the average guest at a wedding won't even remember what food they ate or where the reception was located? They don't care! The only thing they remember is if they had a good time or not.
I'm not even exaggerating here for those who've yet to watch an episode. These women are INSANE! And then they ask some of their Bridesmaids to lose weight so the pictures and dresses look better. Half the time the Brides are the size of hippos. And, who cares if someone is overweight! They are just shallow! Your pictures aren't going to be on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. Also, some of these Brides make physical and verbal threats to vendors or friends. I don't care if you're a woman that crosses the line right there. If you threaten me you won't make it to your wedding day. Just because you're getting married doesn't mean you suddenly have super strength.

You know, these women need jobs because I can't believe how special they feel when a man puts a ring on their finger. Not to mention all of the overwhelming amount of energy and emotion they put into the planning. We should deploy them to Iraq. With their b*tchy attitudes and perseverance they could eradicate our enemies.

And just so people understand when I got married, it wasn't even near the Bridezilla level. My mom had cancer and was on her deathbed when the hospice nurses told me she wouldn't make it to my wedding date, which was 6 months away. I knew my mom really wanted to see her daughter get married so, my husband and I called family and friends and had our ceremony by her bedside a few days later. I wore a $50 Macy's dress, bought a cake at a bakery the day of the ceremony, picked up flowers at the supermarket and used my computer playlist to for wedding music. My mom got to be there to witness our wedding vows and it made her so happy. She died 2 weeks later, so, YES, these Bridezilla's p*ss me off because it's more than just materialistic things. It's about marrying someone you love and being around people you love. I know it sounds sappy but that's what it is. These women need a reality check.

I'm not saying that weddings should be cheap and boring. I'm also not saying that I'm a Saint for having such a non-materialistic wedding. My situation was different. Of course, you should have fun and do cute things, but you don't have to turn into a she-demon, put down others and expect to be treated like a God. Just have a good time. Weddings can be pretty fun.

The Apprentice (UK) series 7 preview

Show Plot Summary:
The Apprentice sees candidates separated into two teams, competing against each other for a position working for Sir Alan Sugar. Each week the candidates take part in a task set by Sir Alan, and each team will nominate a Project Manager for that task. Sir Alan's trusted aides, Margaret and Nick, will follow the groups, and inform Sir Alan how each group has fared. The team that performs the best will win a reward and avoid the dreaded boardroom confrontation. However, for the losing team, they will be summoned to the boardroom where their project manager will be forced to pick two colleagues in their team to face the possibility of being fired.

Storyline:
Sir Alan Sugar - the £700m owner of AMSTRAD, is presented with 14 candidates, he must split the candidates up into two teams each week, and set them a business task. At the end of the each task, Sir Alan will fire one member of the losing team. Until Week 12 when one of the candidates will get a £100,000 with Sir Alan and become 'The Apprentice.'

Reviews:
addictive reality TV with clueless business types
by didi-5 (United Kingdom)
Now in its fifth series, 'The Apprentice' has 14 candidates for a top job with Sir Alan Sugar's group of companies - carrying out a range of tasks (face painting, washing cars, cooking, making a TV commercial, launching a product, selling sandwiches, etc.) in order to be in the winning team at the end of the day.

With catchphrases like 'this is a job interview from hell' and, carried over from the US version, 'You're fired', it can come across a bit more reality TV than business acumen. The eventual winners have ranged from nice Tim to liar Lee to dim Michelle to er, the other one. Strong characters tend to stay in until the last few weeks to give the viewer something to loathe.

Sir Alan's aides, Nick and Margaret, are good value to watch, their expressions showing their disdain for the candidates as they flunk one task after another. And yes, these high flyers are dim - the scary thing is that the candidates have top salary jobs outside of 'The Apprentice'! As a reality show, it's watchable and fun - even though the last two series have had candidates who play up to the camera more than their predecessors. As a business programme, it's fairly useless - even the tasks have got less interesting as the series has progressed.

Draws Similarities To Dexter, But It's A Different Show
by treeskier802 (United States)
Watching the previews to The Glades, I wasn't the only person I know that saw the similarities between this show and the hit series on Showtime, Dexter. The show is filmed in South Florida, revolves around homicide investigations, and the lead, Matt Passmore, even looks like Michael C. Hall of Dexter. However, unlike Dexter, Jim Longworth is a great cop who is NOT a serial killer. He's a just a decent guy with a good sense of humor who is a damn good investigator.

In fact, Passmore makes the show very enjoyable. Co-stars Carlos Gomez and Jordan Wall are great supporting Passmore and I do hope Michelle Hurd continues to take on a larger role in the show. The characters are good and are being developed nicely.

For this show to be successful, I do believe it will need to take on more interesting dark themes or it runs the risk of becoming a run-of-the-mill forensics series like Law and Order or Kojack...no knock on these shows, they were great for their time, but most audiences are looking for something fresh like Dexter and Breaking Bad. Let's hope The Glades remains fresh. I have watched the first 5 episodes and the back stories do seem to be building. If the show continues on this pace, it could be yet another hit for A&E. Rating 8 of 10 stars.

Drama Plot Summary:
Meet Nathan Ford, a former insurance investigator who spent his professional career dedicated to the company that he recovered millions in stolen goods for. This same insurance company would refuse a medical claim for his son that would take the life of the innocent child. Unemployed and teetering on the edge, Nate is approached about a Robin Hood-like scheme. He enlists the help of the best thieves and grifters in the business, and with their help, he steals from the rich and gives to the poor to help balance the crooks in high power positions. He and his team help provide... leverage.

Storyline:
Former insurance agency investigator Nathan Ford heads a team of former top-criminals. They handle 'unorthodox' cases of people unlikely to get their dues through regular channels and legal procedures. That often involves stinging or otherwise scamming criminals. Nate's team is altered at times, and his professional as well as personal past repeatedly seems to catch up.

Reviews:
by FreakierThanThou (United States)
"Leverage" is an entertaining, fun show. The cast is stellar, the writing snappy, and the characters are likable. It's nice to see a show that doesn't focus too heavily on the "dark side" of everything and can exist without a message.
That's not to say that there aren't poignant moments. (Nate in "The Snow Job" and Parker in "The Stork Job" are particularly memorable.) But they aren't in the majority. Although not every episode is brilliant, none have failed yet to make me laugh at least once.

The show follows a group of thieves who take on corporate villains who have too much power for their victims to defend themselves under normal means. Timely? Oh, yeah.

Timothy Hutton is the much-advertised Oscar-winning face of the team's leader, ex-insurance investigator Nathan Ford. At first, I was incredibly underwhelmed by Hutton's performance. After a few episodes, however, I started to think that maybe he was deliberately underacting (while the others are overacting) to contrast Nate's "honest man" to the thieves who make up the rest of the cast.

Gina Bellman plays a sympathetic Sophie Deveraux. Sophie is the team's "grifter" who moonlights as an actress. How well does that go? As Nate puts it, "she can act... when it's an act." Although she's hilarious, Bellman isn't the funniest of the cast by any means. Christian Kane, the badass Texan you might remember from "Angel," is even tougher, funnier, and angrier as the team's strangely likable fighter Eliot Spencer. Beth Riesgraf contrasts his deadpan humor perfectly as Parker, the crazy but lovable money-obsessed thief. And Aldis Hodge is hilarious, playing the cool geek of their techie, Alec Hardison.

The group has their conflicts, and in the first season, it looks like their biggest problem might be staying together. But the quirkiness and bickering creates a team of misfits that will have you rooting for them from the beginning.

"Leverage" is a good, escapist show where everything is sexy and exciting and the good guys always win. I can see this show becoming a cult hit, or I can see it failing after only a few seasons. Either way, if nothing else, it's fun!

Reviews:
Hello, Mr. Cranston - Meet Ms. Emmy...
by Christopher T. Chase (cchase@onebox.com) (Arlington, VA.)
As the clueless, hapless and hopeless father of four on the celebrated series MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, Bryan Cranston came into his own, as he did an amazing balancing act that juggled slapstick, pathos and insanity all at once, proving that not only did "father NOT know best", but more than likely never would.

Now he essays the role of another father in the new series BREAKING BAD, but it's a shocking, bracingly refreshing turn that takes his 'Three Stooges' repertoire of grunts, shrieks, barks and neurotic ticks and virtually throws them out the window. Some of those qualities are still there, but unlike MALCOLM, BREAKING is the blackest of black comedies. When I first heard about it, the reviews I read compared it heavily (and favorably) to the Coen Brothers' dark crime comedy FARGO. And the comparisons are aptly warranted.

This is one of those series where the less you know about it going in, the better, but just to set your mind reeling with the possibilities, here it is in a nutshell: Cranston plays high school chemistry teacher Walter White, who is constantly battling the lackadaisical attitudes of his disinterested students, the looming specter of financial disaster - by supplementing his paltry teacher's salary with a second job at a local car wash, and trying to cope with the impending arrival of a new baby, even as he and his wife raise their disabled teenage son, whom unlike many stereotypical portrayals of handicapped kids is no Pollyanna-like angel.

Then in the midst of all this, Walter makes a shocking discovery: he has inoperable lung cancer, and therefore only a few years left to live at best. Facing the very real possibility of leaving his family struggling not only with his death, but a financial situation that could only end in catastrophe, Walter suddenly has a revelation, thanks to an idea handed to him by his boorish brother-in-law, who works with the DEA - he decides to become a crystal meth dealer.

Okay, so while you're letting your brain take that all in, you also need to know that this is one of those defining roles where you just know that the lead actor will get Emmy recognition, whether he intended to or not. That is just how good Cranston is as Walter. In fact, he's every bit as good as Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan, James Gandolfini's Tony Soprano or Harold Perrineau's criminally under-appreciated Augustus Hill. And he's backed by an amazing supporting cast of mostly new or unfamiliar faces (with the exception of Dean Norris as the brother-in-law).

You can tell from the word 'go' that writer/producer/director Vince Gilligan (former head writer/exec producer on THE X FILES) has been champing at the bit for a while to let fly with a project like this. And if the first episode is any indication, AMC has another real winner on its hands. So MAD MEN will need to move over and make some room...since BREAKING BAD isn't the kind of series to "ask nicely."

Which brings up another important point: this is not a series for everyone, the way that FARGO and Showtime's kindred-spirit drug dramedy WEEDS are not mainstream, either. This is sharp, biting, satirical social commentary that draws blood when it sinks its teeth in, and you are guaranteed to wince even as you laugh out loud at Cranston's dead-on portrayal of a MAN on the edge of a nervous breakdown (well, more like over the edge.)

A caveat for would-be viewers, though, and a very ironic one at that: AMC has applied its ham-fisted method of editing its movies to this series as well, unfortunately, making the channel the LAST place you want to see it. The best thing to do is to check out the premiere episode whenever you can catch a rerun on AMC, then hustle on over to iTunes and download it so you can watch it again. Some very important scenes and some impressive establishing shots have been "edited for time and content" from the broadcast version, and this is material that IS essential to your experience viewing this show. There is a lot more to the characters and situations than you will be allowed to see on basic cable. So as you watch, keep that in mind.

And after you are done marveling at this magnificent character study sketched in desperation, you can wonder as I did, whether Bryan Cranston will bother preparing a speech for next year's Emmys. I sure hope he does...thanks to his work on BREAKING BAD, he'll need it.

Love it so far
by MB (Canada)
I have been a long time fan of Law and Order (USA) and also a fan of Law and Order CI - but not a fan, however, for the past few years of L and O's SVU which has gone completely haywire in my opinion - trying to outmatch CSI's graphic special effects and violence – and just not working. The regular L and O was getting a bit dull, but seems to have had a kind of rebirth with some new actors the past few seasons, but even so, it's pretty tired, I think. I found Law and Order UK a refreshing change -- equal to (maybe even better than?) and yet different enough from the regular L and O to make it really compelling. Law and order (USA) has always made the justice system its main target and the various story lines wind through their way through the US legal system showing its strengths and weaknesses. The legal system in Britain is very different from the US system, of course, which makes it even more interesting. Like New York, London makes a great backdrop for the series. All actors are strong except for Freema Agyman. I have never found her to be a particularly strong actress. I wish they had chosen someone with a sharper edge - someone "real" and less like an actress simply playing a bleeding-heart role. Agyman plays it way too soppy and wide-eyed -- which makes her very annoying. Bradley Walsh plays Ronnie Brooks perfectly, (right now Bradley IS the show) and who can complain when the amazing Harriet Walter (I wish she was in it more!) and Bill Paterson (ditto) show up on a great show like this? Ben Daniels is also very good as Senior Crown Attorney, James Steel. I loved the two episodes I've seen so far. Top notch!

One of the must-see's!
by tacticalguy (United States)
This is one of those shows that if given enough time will develop a loyal following. I have watched 5 episodes so far. I talked my girlfriend into sitting down for the pilot and she was hooked. Mary McCormack does an excellent job of showing a flawed character struggling with a dysfunctional family and the evils of her job(protecting and hiding criminals in Witness Protection). Fred Weller is excellent as her laconic partner. Paul Ben-Victor is dead on as the not-quite-aware section chief of the U.S. Marshall's Service. The shows are well-crafted and allow Ms. McCormack ample opportunity to zing her co-stars with great one-liners. The developing back-stories on her family show great promise. Lesley Anne Warren is an over the top version of the mother no one wants to claim as their own. She's a hard-drinking "good-time" girl who likes men, a LOT. Nichole Hiltz is her sexy, ditzy sister who is attracted to trouble. The cast is a lot of fun to watch and I am going to be rooting for them to be renewed for a second season.

I love love love this show!
by janice143 (United States)
The previous reviewer, please put your review in paragraphs. No one wants to read a tome like the one you just reviewed.

So, why do I love this show? I just love all the women, they are fun, pretty and a lot more realistic than the women on the Housewives of New York. Although Franklin Lakes, New Jersey where these women live is not a touchstone for the rest of the country, I get a kick out of watching where they live. Their homes are beautiful, their children are well fed and well taken care of. No one is on welfare or food stamps.

This is supposed to be a reality show, it is not, but who cares. This is just an entertainment show, meant to make us feel happy and secure and maybe happy we are not like them.

From thousands of entries, and an exhaustive nationwide talent search, the series uncovers a unique group of artists from both professional and amateur backgrounds, proving every underdog has a fighting chance at stardom.

Reviews:
by dcbentley (United States) 15 July 2011
'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy wants to find new talent for his runaway hit series. No use wasting all that hard work and a perfectly good national talent search, so The Glee Project was born. Tens of thousands of teen singers (as well as post-teen singers pretending to look like high-schoolers) grind through the auditions for the chance to perform on several episode of 'Glee'. 'The Glee Project' shows little of these early efforts, starting out almost immediately with the twelve chosen standouts. It's a diverse mix of male/female, pretty/not so pretty, tall/short, longhair/short hair kids. All very, very good singers in their own right. Each themed episode is visited by a regular cast member form the Glee mothership, not the A-list mind you, mostly support characters, but unquestionably talented people in and of themselves. The kids are given homework, a song to sing and choreograph together. They then perform it as the surprise 'guest mentor' watches and picks a standout. That standout is given perks in the form of individual tutelage with the guest mentor and special solo focus in the week's video shoot. The week's video is professionally produced with vocals recorded in a studio ahead of time, giving vocal producer Niki Anders an opportunity to instruct, motivate and if at all possible, belittle the nervous, struggling voices. The show captures brief vignettes in the recording studio and the video set zooming in on every possible cracking voice, petty squabble and unfortunate diva moment. Drama between the young singers is sought out and drawn out throughout the whole episode though most often it seems contrived or very selectively-edited. The finished video is shown in its entirety. This is the undisputed acme of each episode. Casting director Robert Ulrich and choreographer Zach Woodlee sit in the front row and one by one offer critique and then announce to the kids on stage who will continue and which three, the weakest of the week, will be required to perform individually in front of the Murphy himself. From these three, one will not be 'called back'. The singers only have a couple of hours to prepare (so we are told), so there are the predictable shots of rehearsal room sweat, tears, fear, woe and lament. Extra camera time is awarded to anyone willing to reveal his or her innermost trial and torment. Each of the three perform and are then told their strengths and weaknesses (mostly the latter) by a usually pontificating and condescending Murphy, whose highest compliment seems to be "I can write to that." Indicating, in my opinion, that he really doesn't know what he's looking for at all, but will apparently know it when he sees it. (or writes itself entirely, a la the Glee character, Kurt (Chris Colfer)) Rather then man up and tell the kids to their faces who got the boot, Ulrich posts a list and the three each make the solo perp-walk out to check to see if they've been called back or eliminated. The best parts of this show by far are the kids' performances. These are all relatively unknown and yet very talented young individuals. The weekly videos are first rate and even the homework assignment is polished and near-ready for prime time. The 'drama' is overstressed and is fast becoming a tired, clichéd, and dare I say, lazy entertainment mechanism. This is the same sort of glop you see on every other reality show from 'Survivor' to 'Next Food Network Star'. Minor, petty bickering and emoting juiced up with dramatic sound tracks and contextually questionable close-ups and narrowly edited sound bites. Murphy comes off at the same time as both arrogant and weak, completely subjective and at odds with himself as to what it is he is actually wanting. The kids themselves, bless their little hearts, are fun, expressive, intense and eerily 'normal'. It's a fun and entertaining hour each week, number one in priority on my DVR, even with all the fake drama bits. Highly recommended!

Wonderful new series on Lifetime
by blanche-2 (United States)
"Drop Dead Diva" is a new series on Lifetime. The pilot is very enjoyable, mainly because of the star, Brooke Elliot, who is fabulous. She plays a brilliant, highly successful attorney, Jayne, who pays no attention to her appearance - she's on the heavy side, and her hair is long with no style. One night, she stays late at the office, and a man, angry with one of the partners, comes in with a gun. She is killed. At the same moment of her death, a shallow, pencil thin, blonde beauty named Deb is driving to an audition to be a prize demonstrator on The Price is Right and crashes while putting on lipstick. Upset that she's dead, once in heaven, she hits a "return" button when the check-in person isn't looking. She ends up with Jayne's body, Jayne's brains, and her own memory.

I love the premise - it's been used in movies before, but usually seriously. Some of the scenes are great, including when Deb first sees herself as Jayne, Jayne trying to get into Deb's clothes - I won't spoil it for you. Since Deb has inherited Jayne's brain power, she's thrilled that she's now smart, and certainly knows how to deal with competitive women, which Jayne did not. I love how Elliot incorporates Deb's bubbly personality beneath the person of Jayne.

Very well cast, with Margaret Cho as Jayne's assistant and Kate Levering, a talented Broadway actress, as Deb's friend Kim.

Great fun, and I'm so happy that Lifetime has been branching out from its women in jeopardy theme.

Reviews On Big Brother (US) Show:
I Love this show
by johnsyaface (United States)
Big Brother is a mixture of Survivor and the Real World. Its about how a group of people called "Housemates" live in a "house" and are isolated from any sorts of technology for the summer to compete against each other to win the HOH(head of household) and the power of veto thru numerous of competitions. The house guest who wins HOH will have the right to nominate two houesguests to be evicted out from the house. With the power of veto, the holder of it could choose to use it on one of the evictees to save them from possible eviction. The same process occurs every week until one is left standing and 500,000 dollars richer. I started watching Big Brother around 3 years ago, and I have seen many improvements and twists added to the show. Like last year, when 12-14 house guests were playing secretly with their friend/boyfriend/girlfriend/best friend etc. Last years edition I consider one of the best, because of the "Cat with 9 lives" James who had won the power of veto a recorded 4 times. Also Kaysar and Jannele were terrific players, because Kaysar was a fan favorite and the "brains" of Big Brother 6. As Jannele was a combination of Kaysar and James. Another memorable Big Brother moment was Nakomis's 6 finger plan, also known as backdooring, where she finally got Jase evicted from the house. This show is really great to watch because its fun to watch how people will do anything for 500,000 dollars, which include lieing, backstabbing, back dooring, and the list goes on. If you want to watch Big Brother 7 All Stars tune in on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8 o clock on CBS on the West Coast. In conclusion Big Brother is an excellent show and I hope I will be a future contestant.

Reviews:
Meh...I tried
by wille66 (Washington, DC) 23 June 2011
I wanted to like Falling Skies and suffered through the first two episodes. I liked the first few minutes with it's desperate feel of future humans vs. Skynet terminators, but after that it devolved into a hackneyed, plodding, boring epi-soap ala Jericho et al. Even without a compelling story line or a decent amount of action, I was still willing to give Falling Skies a shot. Seeing actor Dale Dye (Porter), I was hoping maybe he served as military consultant to give it a believable feel of a human insurgency fighting alien invaders. Nope. Small plot points like the hodgepodge of weapons everyone carried (where did the Russian guns come from, how do they keep ammunition supplied), or that apparently a ragtag group of hundreds of people could just saunter around in the daylight without being attacked by a supposedly superior alien race with aircraft and armored robots told me Falling Skies was going to be a groaner. Nitpicking, I know, but small things like that just tell me Falling Skies is sloppily directed and produced. If the story doesn't pick up the pace, I don't expect it to survive season one.

Surprisingly Addicting
by copperncherrio (United States)
The show follows five lesbians that live in Los Angeles and is on Showtime. Each are in different parts of their lives, engaged, in a relationship, single, and drama like life. All of the lesbians are so pretty and sincere. It just follows them in all their drama and glory.

It's my guilty pleasure… although I've watched The L Word, I find the format of this show very pleasant for an reality show (I normally do not care for reality show). It's funny, sincere, and dramatic… everything you would want from a reality show. Even as a straight girl, all of the girls are super attractive and hot, personality wise and looks. I think my favorite is Mikey, Tracy, and Nikki. But there is something for everyone!

Jeremy, Richard and James talk about everything car-related. From new cars to how they're fueled, this show has it all.

Episodes Plot:
Top Gear is the best car show in Britain and is currently presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, with special appearances from the tame racing driver, The Stig. The boys talk about anything from new cars to their engines, but don't be fooled, this is not another boring technical car programme. The boys have races and do crazy things with cars (anything from driving them into swimming pools to setting them on fire). Oh and there is always an earnest attempt to kill Richard Hammond every series...

 Top Gaer Previews:
Two teaser trailers for the upcoming 17th season of the best car show ever just weren’t enough to satiate our impatience for the real thing. Lucky for us, Top Gear knows a thing or two about trailing a carrot and have released a series of preview images for their first episode that fill in more of the gaps left by the teaser videos.

In the first episode, Jeremy Clarkson celebrates the 50th birthday of the legendary Jaguar E-type by driving a modern, half a million pound interpretation of this classic sports car, followed by a typically low key birthday party involving live music, classic fighter planes, and a group of Royal Marines. Meanwhile, Richard Hammond is in South Africa to test a bigger, even more rugged alternative to the famous Hummer whilst James May meets up with gold medal winning British Olympian, Amy Williams, for a wintry test of the latest Mini rally car. Plus, the power crazed BMW 1-series M slithers around the test track in a cloud of tire smoke and Alice Cooper takes his place in the Reasonably Priced Car. Oh yeah, Alice Cooper.

Reviews:
by Elkrider
In short, Top Gear is the ultimate TV car program. If you like cars, it's the thing to watch - and if you don't, watch it anyway because you don't need to be a petrolhead or car buff to enjoy it. Pure, undiluted fun. Three insane Brits who are not shy of giving devastating test summaries for cars that didn't cut it. Not to mention the other stuff they think up, be that the 1500 quid used Porsche test or Caravan Conkers...the list is almost endless. While other TV car shows feature lots of boring junk, the Top Gear crew isn't afraid of anything. If needs be they put on helmets and crash test cars into a wall at 30 mph.

Even my mother likes to watch it, and her interest in cars is limited to "I like how that one looks" at the very best.
