How do you make a show about a person who’s dying of cancer and have it not be depressing? AMC has answered that question with Breaking Bad (set to return for Season 4 next month) and Showtime’s answer is The Big C, a series about her woman who’s struggling to get a grip on her life after learning that she has Stage IV melanoma. Last season ended with Cathy’s son Adam learning about her disease and coming to realize just how serious the situation is. Season 2 picks up with Cathy (Laura Linney) determined to beat her cancer and trying desperately to get an appointment with Dr. Atticus Sherman (Alan Alda), a doctor/magician who may be able to get her into a clinical trial, which could be the key to a cure for her disease. Cathy’s husband Paul (Oliver Platt) is trying to be the supportive, loving husband that Cathy needs, but he’s as new to cancer as his wife as and taking things as they come. You get the sense that they're together in this, for better or worse. Meanwhile, their son Adam (Gabriel Basso) is still adjusting to learning the truth about his mother’s illness, and part of that comes with added attention at school now that her diagnosis is public knowledge. Finally, Cathy’s mentally unstable brother Sean (John Benjamin Hickey) is preparing to be a father, having impregnated Cathy’s old college friend Rebecca (Cynthia Nixon). Marlene (Phyllis Somerville) may be dead, but she isn’t gone. The older woman took her own life last season after her dementia nearly caused her to shoot Adam. Now Sean has taken up residence in her house and Marlene is appearing to Cathy in brief hallucinations. Using a deceased character's ghost to give us an opportunity to get further into the mind of the lead character isn’t a new tactic. It’s worked nicely for Dexter and Rescue Me and it works just as well on The Big C. Death now has a face and a voice for Cathy. Marlene’s “ghost” gives Cathy a chance to say what few things she isn’t able to share with the other people in her lives. It also gives us more Phyllis Somerville, which is a bonus. .Paul plays matchmaker for Andrea and the Ukrainian coworker he is mentoring; an indiscreet Adam is responsible for jeopardizing Cathy's new job as a swim coach; and Sean contemplates taking the next step with Rebecca and seeks advice on how to go about it..Cathy tries dabbling in the supernatural after she's unsuccessful at scoring a spot in a clinical trial for a new cancer treatment overseen by a renowned oncologist (Alan Alda). Meanwhile, Sean takes on a take-charge attitude around the house, and Adam uses his mother's medical situation to his advantage at school.A suburban mom, diagnosed with cancer, tries to find the humor in the disease.Seeking to lower her blood pressure for the clinical trial, Cathy visits a Tibetan doctor with Lee and finds she has an unexpected connection to him; Paul decides to rise above his jealousy of Lee and go out with him and Cathy for an evening; a grounded and bored Adam nearly ruins Andrea's first date with Myk.

Series Summary:
However, there is another plot back at the Warehouse, unattached and completely pointless. It's funny stuff, to be sure, but that's all it is, a glorified romp through the Warehouse, showing all the cool and funny things Pete and Myka could do with the artifacts. There is some mystery, as the two had bronzed Steve while under an artifact's effects, but they quickly solve the problem and we see what happened in a series of flashbacks. I'm fine with this plot, but it also took up big chunk of the episode which seemed unnecessary. Will the rest of the season follow in this way?
“Trials” is an interesting dual episode for WAREHOUSE 13. Now that Myka (Joanne Kelly) is back on the team, there are actually two complete sets of agents to investigate and acquire artifacts. Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka form their original duo, and Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) and ATF Special Agent Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) form the new partnership.Two very different artifacts and cases in this episode keep everything moving at a rapid pace, and reestablish what is more than likely to be the norm for this season. Myka and Pete are investigating people losing their memories, and they all connect to the murder of a young waitress. The two of them are on OK ground since Myka left at the end of last season and came back last episode. I admit I was surprised that the writers didn’t have her stay far afield longer than they did to build up tension of will she return or won’t she, but as is, I am just glad to have her back..Executive-produced by Jack Kenny and David Simkins, the dramatic comedy from Universal Media Studios has been described as borrowing much from 1980s television series Friday the 13th: The Series, and as "part The X-Files, part Raiders of the Lost Ark and part Moonlighting." Syfy President Dave Howe has suggested that it was derived from a 2006 miniseries The Lost Room. The series premiere was Syfy's third largest debut to date, garnering 3.5 million viewers. It also has a near 50% female viewership. .With Myka gone and the Warehouse 13 team struggling to cope with all the strange occurrences across the globe, so – as is her wont – Mrs Fredricks decides its high time that the team had a little backup and who better than a cop… Only Steve Jinks, played by former Smallville star Aaron Ashmore (pictured above), is no ordinary cop (this is Warehouse 13 after all), he has a sixth sense and can automatically sense when anyone is lying. Of course this comes in handy later in the episode as Claudia, Pete and Steve track down another mysterious artefact – this time one that brings literally classics to life, or death for those that fall under its spell.If you’ve been following Warehouse 13 since the beginning you’ll know that the original dynamic duo of Pete and Myka were later joined by the now fan-favourite character of Claudia part way through the first season. Her appearance in the show brought a sense of fun and wonder to proceedings and this season the introduction of Steve Jinks works in pretty much the same way – only Steve is less about fun and more about doing his damnedest to solve the case, even if the entire time he can’t believe what’s in front of him!.After saving the life of an international diplomat in Washington D.C., a pair of U.S Secret Service agents are whisked away to a covert location in South Dakota that houses supernatural objects that the U.S. Government has collected over the centuries. Their new assignment: retrieve some of the missing objects and investigate reports of new ones.

Lots of changes this year folks, here is my take on the premiere.Jack deals with a bank robbery which may relate to the sudden gravity issues besetting the citizens of Eureka. Meanwhile, Fargo's rivalry with Isaac Parrish is boosted when he learns Holly and Parrish went on a date..The best minds in the US are tucked away in a remote town where they build futuristic inventions for the government's benefit..
'Eureka' is rolling up the sidewalks and saying goodbye until its holiday special this December. The series put a bow on the time-travel story that had dictated much of the plot since the season premiere shifted five of the principal cast members to 1947.
Carter lands in an awkward situation after S.A.R.A.H. and Andy's nuptials hit a snag; Zane keeps harassing Jo for details; an unscheduled launch presents trouble for the gang.

Series Summary:
Tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Bay Kennish grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a working class neighborhood. Things come to a dramatic head when both families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls.
Kathryn, John and Regina adjust to their new living arrangements. Meanwhile, Daphne spends time with Liam; and Regina talks to Bay about her family's history..I wasn’t planning on watching Switched at Birth until I read a summary–two girls switched at birth end up in completely different situations. That’s the kind of wacky ideas that can make a show totally unwatchable or, if executed well, into something worth watching, so I immediately perked up. My curiosity got the better of me and I went ahead and watched it.For the first three-quarters of the pilot, I was very uneasy about the whole thing.
There was already the massively stupid, childish cliche about Bay being the same as her biological mother and the complete opposite of the parents who raised her, as if biology is the only thing that determines how someone turns out. And the same went for Daphne. The writers make no attempt for nuance, instead presenting a black and white distinction. I’m sure the lines will be blurred as the show progresses, but force feeding differences in the pilot is a bit obnoxious. Another problem is that the Kennish parents are very stuck up, almost expecting Daphne to be given to them simply because they can provide better monetary support. It smooths out after a while, but they still suffer from government-syndrome, the idea that they alone know what’s best.. As Bay holds her art-show an unexpected guest makes an appearance and, Daphne opens up to Emmett about the feelings she has for him.
