Series Storyline:
"Therapist" Dr. Tom - who is constantly spouting famous and not so famous historical quotes - is Erica Strange's savior and worst enemy. Erica provides Dr. Tom with a long list of those pivotal moments in her life that she feels have led to the bad state she is in today. Erica is initially unaware of what Dr. Tom is intending on doing with this list. What he does do is transport her back in time to each of those moments so that she, with all the knowledge of her present day life, can make better decisions to fix her life. Series Summary:
Inspired by detective stories, a well meaning but struggling writer (Jason Schwartzman) decides to lead a sort of double life by pretending to be a private detective. When his girlfriend dumps him, it triggers an early mid-life crisis for the neurotic Manhattan writer. He addresses it by indulging in drugs and drink and finally by advertising on Craigslist as a private detective and trying to solve the mysteries in other people's lives - with varying degrees of success.

Series Summary:
In an updated remake of the 1968 original series, Detective Steve McGarrett returns home to Oahu to investigate his father's murder and Hawaii's governor convinces him to stay and head up a new team with no rules and no red tape. Storyline:

The Harper brothers Charlie and Alan are almost opposites but form a great team. They have little in common except their dislike for their mundane, maternally cold and domineering mother, Evelyn. Alan, a compulsively neat chiropractor and control-freak, is thrown out by his manipulative wife Judith who nevertheless gets him to pay for everything and do most jobs in the house. Charlie is a freelance jingle composer and irresistible Cassanova who lives in a luxurious beach-house and rarely gets up before noon. Charlie "temporarily" allows Alan and his son Jake, a food-obsessed, lazy school kid who shuttles between his parents, to move in with them after Alan's separation/divorce.
