After a successful first series, U.S. broadcaster NBC began airing the programme on 21 June 2009, but after a decline in viewers, it was moved to the cable network Syfy, where it began broadcasting the second series on 2 April 2010.The second series began airing on 19 September 2009 on BBC One. On 5 September 2010, BFI Southbank in London previewed the first two episodes of the third series for its September Film Funday programme. Merlin was influenced by the U.S show Smallville, about the early years of Superman. After failed attempts to bring the programme to life, development of the current Merlin began in late 2006, with physical production beginning in March 2008. The series received a generally mixed reception when it began its broadcast. Critics were upset with the flat dialogue and the modern look to the series. One critic, in particular, called the whole concept "bland". The series première drew an overnight average of 6.65 million viewers in the 19:00 slot, a final consolidated figure of 7.15 million, despite being scheduled against popular ITV series The X Factor. The first series as a whole had an average of 6.32 million viewers, which is fewer than Doctor Who attracted during its first series, and slightly more than those received by Robin Hood. Merlin was also the fifth most watched programme on BBC iPlayer in 2008. The third series of Merlin began on 11 September 2010, and showed an increase in viewers, proving the show's increasing popularity. The third series ended on 4 December 2010. Series Storyline:

Bollywood movie The Dirty Picture, which received a grand opening this Friday, has beaten the record of Akshay Kumar and John Abraham starrer Desi Boyz which had collected Rs 9 crore at the Indian Box Office on the first day of its release. Vidya Balan starrer The Dirty Picture has raked in Rs 10 crore at the collection centres on the opening day.

Desi Boyz, which stars Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh in leads, is a big budget movie and it was released in 2,200 screens across the country. But the movie opened to a dull response with its occupancy ranging between 50% to 65%. Its first earning (Rs 9 crore) was not upto the expectation.

Whereas, The Dirty Picture, which stars Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar Kapoor in leads, is a medium budget movie and it was released in 1,600 centres across the country. The movie registered 60-65% collection, while its occupancy in single screens ranged between 75% to 80%.
When compared to its volume of release, the movie has done far better than Desi Boyz at the Box Office. The Dirty Picture got rave reviews from film critics as well as it registered a good response from the audience. Many entered the theatres with an excitement of seeing Vidya's raunchy show, but they came out with a feeling of enlightment. Now, trade analysts say that the word of mouth is expected to boost the collection of The Dirty Picture.

Now, director Mahesh Bhatt has put all those rumours and speculations to rest. The Bollywood filmmaker has announced that Sunny has accepted his offer to act in his upcoming movie Jism 2.

In a chat with an English daily, Mahesh Bhatt confirmed that news of casting Sunny Leone for Jism 2. The B-Town director said, “She has accepted the offer. It seems that porn queen Sunny Leone has her days numbered in India. Recently the BJP youth wing president and MP Anurag Thakur has complained to the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry seeking action against TV channel Colors for featuring adult entertainment star Sunny Leone on its reality show Bigg Boss.

Thakur told India Today, "If a porn star is given an entry into a reality show, it has a negative impact on the mindset of children. Lots of complaints have come in from parents that her entry should be banned. Or necessary action should be taken by the I&B ministry. We have been waiting for the I&B ministry to take some action against the said channel. I have written a letter to Ambika Soni.”
Earlier this week the Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF) had filed an official written complaint with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry asking I&B Minister Ambika Soni to take stringent action against Colors channel for indirectly encouraging and promoting pornography in India by having porn-star Sunny Leone in the show.
There have been endless complains from Indian parents who have traced their teenagers surfing internet about Sunny Leone and her works. Sexologists and psychiatrists reveal that they have received many such complains. Taking the issue seriously, now the Government have raised its voice against Leone's presence in the show.
