Filming was intended to take place between January 17 and February 18 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a release date set for August 2011,but this became impractical because of cold weather and the requirement for cast and crew to be wear little or no clothing.In March 2011, production on the film was delayed and Joel Soisson was brought in to produce the film and rewrite the Dunstan-Melton script.The film made very small impact on its debut weekend of release in the UK; its box receipts for the opening weekend were just £242,889 placing at number 8. Low budget films that were not new releases such as Salmon Fishing in the Yemen reaching number seven, one place above Piranha 3DD.it was announced that the film will be released on June 1, 2012.The movie was released on May 11, 2012 in the UK
Movie Plot Summary:
Tara Reid bummed us out earlier in the year when her Big Lebowski 2 announcement proved untrue. Then, the rumor that she was taking over as Sheriff Julie Foster panned out; that would have nudged this sequel into "Celebrity Apprentice" territory, and we wish she'd don a badge for these 3D events. And we're unsurprised to see the dudes behind the Feast trilogy handed the writer-director duties by the money-saving Weinstein Bros. After the events at Lake Victoria, the pre-historic school of blood-thirsty piranhas make their way into a newly opened waterpark.
Storyline:
Having awoken from their spring break extravaganza at Lake Victoria, the swarm heads upstream where they look to make a meal out of Big Wet, a local water park where when it comes to fun, nobody does it wetter! Though they came to get wet, get loaded and get some, the staff and patrons get more than they bargained for when they must face the fiercest, most bloodthirsty piranhas yet. Lead by the strong-willed, studious Maddy and her friends, Barry and Kyle, the trio must dive in and take on these man-eating creatures using every ounce of their being but can they be stopped?
